I AM
God is not a tyrant nor an oppressor, He is not unjust, (Job 37 v 23), nor is He intolerant,
The Word of God with the guidance of the Holy Spirit helps us to see who God really is. When we have the Holy Spirit we are shown routes to understanding God. Another Dimension...
So who really is God? He is not a bigot, God is love and so does not hate anyone, only sin itself, (Proverbs 6 v 16), . He is unbiased, (2 Chronicles 19 v 7), Now therefore, let the fear of the Lord be upon you; take care and do it, for there is no iniquity with the Lord our God, no partiality, nor taking of bribes. He is also not without compassion, (Psalm 86 v 15), But thou, O Lord, art a God full of compassion, and gracious, long-suffering, and plenteous in mercy and truth.
This is not the total sum of God's nature, the rest can only be discovered by us, through an in-depth relationship with God, because, though the word of God is true, it is subject to misunderstanding. And unfortunately routes to understanding God can be hampered by such misinterpretations. Some words in the Old Testament may suggest one thing, resulting in something else being implied. For example while Adam and Eve were in the Garden of Eden the Lord told them that they were not allowed to eat the fruit of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, that was in the garden that if they did they would 'surely die' (Genesis. 2 v 17). Unfortunately they disobeyed and ate of the fruit the result was that God cursed them and then banished them. (Genesis 3 v 14-24) God's meaning of death in this text does not mean that Adam and Eve will no longer exist but rather, in this case, it refers to them no longer having a suffer-free life, which they were enjoying while in the Garden of Eden. Looking at this statement on the surface it does show God to have an inconsistent and lying nature but upon further investigation, it becomes apparent that the type of death that God was alluding to is the end to an easy life, the end of constant happiness and joy, and the emergence of illnesses, and wars and the end of constant natural and unadulterated and untainted provisions from God. In other words what God was saying was their life as they knew it would ultimately come to an end because of their sin of disobedience. This is confirmed in the book of (
So God by nature does not lie, He is God and therefore has no need to indulge in any form of deception. (Number 23 v 19) 'God is not a man that he should lie'. So to fully understand the nature of God one needs the guidance of the Holy Spirit without which, our free will based on past and present influences and flesh will do the interpretations for us and in so doing mislead us as he did to Eve in the Garden of Eden,( Genesis 3 v 1-5).
Misinterpretations are possible as a result of translations in the bible, from Hebrew to Aramaic from Aramaic to Greek from the time of Abraham to today's language, as a result a characteristic of God may be described in one form, in one part of the bible and the same trait of God in different way in another part of the bible.
There are two main routes to understanding God through the Bible with the help of the Holy Spirit and through communion with God.
For us to fully understand God we need to have a real relationship with God unfortunately we are prevented from doing this because of free will that has been negatively influenced by our pass.
Who really is God? He is our Father trying to show us routes to understanding Him so that we can see how much he loves us.
